Chapter checks
At the end of most chapters there is a Chapter check — a short set of questions covering everything in that chapter.
It is optional
Nobody has to do it. It is labeled Optional for that reason. Skipping it locks nothing and holds your child back from nothing.
What it is for
It answers one question for you: has this actually stuck? A child can follow a lesson perfectly while it is in front of them and still not have it a week later. The chapter check tells you which of the two you are looking at.
- Usually around a dozen questions.
- They mix the chapter up rather than going lesson by lesson.
- You see the result at the end, and which questions were missed.
If it goes badly
That is useful information, not a failure. Go back to the lessons the missed questions came from and do them again. Lessons can be repeated as often as you like, and the parts your child moves behave differently each time.
Finding it
In the course list — on the home page, or under All courses in the menu — open a course and then a chapter. The chapter check sits at the bottom of that chapter, after the last lesson.
It is also in the list of lessons beside a lesson your child is already reading, as the last line.
