Terms of service
Last updated 17 August 2026
These terms cover using Cogito. They are written plainly on purpose — if anything here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it rather than point at a clause.
What Cogito is
Cogito is a practice tool for learning mathematics, reading and science through short interactive lessons. It supports what a child is taught; it does not replace a school, a teacher, or a curriculum, and we do not promise any particular result.
Accounts
You must be 18 or over to create an account. Accounts are for parents and guardians — children use Cogito on an adult’s account and do not have logins of their own.
You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what happens on your account. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it.
Using it fairly
Cogito is for your family’s own use. Please do not copy the lessons to republish them, resell access, or use automated tools to download the content in bulk.
We may suspend an account that is being used to attack or disrupt the service. We will tell you why.
Memberships and billing
Part of Cogito is free to everyone. A membership opens the rest.
- $5 per month, or $50 per year. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that applies where you live.
- A 7-day free trial, with no card required. When it ends, nothing is charged unless you choose to subscribe.
- A membership renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- Cancel any time, from your account page. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Refunds. If you are unhappy, write to us within 14 days of a payment and we will refund it. If a renewal caught you by surprise and you have not used Cogito since it was charged, write to us and we will refund that too.
If prices change, we will tell existing members by email before the change affects them, and you can cancel before it does.
Content
The lessons, illustrations and software are ours. Your membership is permission to use them, not ownership of them. Printing worksheets for your own children is expressly fine.
Anything you send us as feedback, we may use to improve Cogito.
Availability
We work to keep Cogito running and correct, but we cannot promise it will always be available or entirely free of mistakes. If you find an error in a lesson, tell us — those get fixed.
To the extent the law allows, Cogito is provided as it is, and our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months.
Ending it
You can close your account whenever you like, from your account page or by writing to us. Closing it deletes your learners and their progress, which cannot be undone.
Changes
If these terms change materially, we will update the date at the top and tell account holders by email. Continuing to use Cogito after that means the new terms apply.
