More than one child

1. Sign in, then tap your name in the blue bar at the top.
2. Tap Learners.
3. Tap Add a learner.
4. Type their first name and choose their grade. The grade is only a starting suggestion — they can do any lesson from any grade.
5. Save. Repeat for each child.

Under each child’s name there is a box, Show levels instead of grades. Tick it and that child sees Level C Math where you see Grade 1 Math, on this device. You keep the grade here and on the family page. See Grades and levels.

Once there is more than one child on the account, your name in the blue bar at the top shows who is learning as well: Priya · Ravi means you are signed in and Ravi’s work is being saved. Tap it and the other names appear underneath. Choose one before your child starts.

It is in the bar on every page, not only the home page, so you can check whose name a lesson is being saved under while the lesson is open.

Choosing a name is open on purpose — a five-year-old has to be able to pick themselves. What is not open, if you do not want it to be, is the page that shows everybody’s marks at once.

1. Sign in, then tap your name in the blue bar at the top.
2. Find Grown-ups only and tap Set a code.
3. Choose four digits your children do not know, and save.

From then on, on that device, Family progress, the weekly letter and the Learners page ask for the code. It is asked once and then not again until the browser is closed. Lessons, the name buttons and each child’s own Today panel are untouched.

Underneath the code you will find Also ask for the code before, with two boxes. Both start unticked.

1. Changing who is learning — the name buttons still show, but the code is asked before the name changes. Worth ticking if one child has been opening another child’s name: the home page shows whichever child is chosen and the lesson they are part-way through. The code is asked every time a name is changed, not once per visit. Leave it unticked if a young child needs to start their own work without waiting for you.
2. Fun & Think — the games ask for the code. Nothing to do with privacy; it is there for families who want lessons done before play.

Up to four children, Family progress shows everybody at once with a row of names to look at one at a time. From five, it opens as a register instead — one line per child with when they last worked, how many lessons this week, and where they are — and tapping a name opens that child in full. Nothing to set up; it changes shape on its own.

The account is the same wherever you sign in. A child can do a lesson on the family tablet in the morning and carry on from a laptop in the evening, as long as the same account is signed in and the right name is selected.

The same Learners page lets you rename a child, change their grade, or remove them. Removing a child removes their progress record too, so do it only when you mean it.
