Part 22 of 33
Brain Gym
Brain Gym, in the menu under Tech explained, is puzzles for every kind of thinking, from Pre-K to Grade 12. Everything is tapped, never dragged, and Pip coaches each puzzle with lines written for it. Pip is not a live AI, and the room says so.
The rooms
Section A is twelve thinking rooms, each training one kind of thinking: patterns, space and shapes, logic and mysteries, numbers, memory, cause and effect, planning, illusions, codes, creative thinking, telling fact from fiction, and thinking like a computer.
Section B is seven bigger experiences: a room to escape, a case to crack, a bridge to build, a machine to outwit, and more. Under them, Compare them is a table for grown-ups of what each one teaches.
Who is playing?
At the top, Who is playing? picks a band: Pre-K–K, Grades 1–3, Grades 4–6, Grades 7–9 or Grades 10–12. It is a starting point, never a lock: any child may pick any band. Below it are Today’s brain challenge, a new one each day, and This week’s mystery, a new case each week.
Inside a room, each challenge is marked Gentle, Steady or Stretch. After two results, the room may suggest a gentler step or a bigger one. It never moves your child by itself.
Playing a challenge
- Open a room, read Your mission and How to play, and tap Start the mission.
- Work the puzzle on the board. Another answer gets Not quite. Try again. and a pointer at the board.
- Stuck? Hint 1 of 3 opens the first hint, then the next, one at a time.
- Show me the answer draws the answer on the board itself. Start again clears it for another go.
- A solve gets a warm word, such as Excellent! or Good job!, for the thinking. Then Next challenge.
Play together (family or class), or Together inside a room, sets the puzzles up for a group around one screen.
No points
There are no points, badges, streaks, unlocks or timers, and nothing is lost for a hint, a mistake or taking a long time. Brain Gym remembers only which challenges your child has solved or seen, and the band they chose, on that device.
