What You Learned
- Round letters curve to the left.
- They start at the top, like the straight ones.
For the grown-up
All five begin with the same counterclockwise curve, which is why they are taught together. C is O with a gap; G is C with a shelf; Q is O with a tail.
Counterclockwise is the direction that matters. A child who learns to circle the other way will struggle with a, d, g and q later, all of which need this motion.
S is the hardest shape in this group and often the hardest capital of all. It is here rather than alone because the first half of it is the same curve they have just practiced four times.
